FAQs
-
What should I wear?
Wear anything you feel comfortable in! I recommend loose fitting clothing that rolls up to around elbow and knee level such as a T-shirt, linen pants, or wide-leg jeans. Ideal clothing allows easy access to your arms, legs and abdomen for point location.

Anything to know before my first acupuncture appointment?
It’s helpful to eat a light meal 1–2 hours before your appointment so you’re neither too hungry nor too full. Please make sure you’re well hydrated and avoid caffeine and alcohol beforehand.
After your appointment, try to take it easy if you can, continue to hydrate and enjoy a nourishing meal.
-
Is acupuncture painful?
You may experience a sensation on insertion and mild sensations such as a dull aches or gentle stimulation along the channel while the needles are retained. My goal is to make you as comfortable as possible and I practice more gentle needling techniques to achieve that goal. Options for completely non-insertive needle treatments are available.

How long are treatments?
New patient treatments involve a thorough review of your medical history and current concerns to better understand where you’re at and how to best treat. These appointments last about 1 hour and 15-30 minutes. Follow-up appointments usually run just about an hour.
-
How often should I get treatments?
Ideally, treatments once a week are very beneficial, especially at the beginning. Acupuncture and herbs tend to be slower moving medicines that build on each treatment so often more than one treatment is necessary.
Treatment timelines vary per individual. Chronic conditions can take longer or require more regular treatments vs acute flareups might need 1-2 treatments upfront. I always suggest finding a schedule that works for you being once a week, every other week or every month.
